Divorce Support
If your marriage has reached its end, don't just divorce. Let us help you navigate what comes next.
Divorce is not simply the ending of a relationship.
It affects individuals, children, families, finances, living arrangements, emotions, religious responsibilities and the future.
And when a marriage has reached the point where separation or divorce is being considered, there are often many questions.
- What happens now?
- How do we proceed Islamically?
- What are my responsibilities?
- What are my rights?
- What about the children?
- What about maintenance?
- How do we communicate this to our families?
- How do we move forward without allowing bitterness to consume us?
Baṣirah Care provides both counselling support and qualified Islamic/fiqh guidance to help individuals and families navigate this difficult transition responsibly.
Because Baṣirah Care is headed by a qualified Mufti, the service can address both the emotional and psychological dimensions of divorce as well as the relevant Islamic considerations.
Our Posture
Don't just vent. Let's work towards what comes next.
Divorce counselling is not simply a place to repeatedly recount everything your spouse did wrong.
There may be pain.
There may be anger.
There may be betrayal.
There may be grief.
There needs to be space to acknowledge those experiences.
But counselling should ultimately help you move forward. We help clients work through the emotional impact of the marriage and its ending while developing perspective about what comes next.
From
“Why did this happen to me?”
Towards
“How do I move forward from here?”
The Divorce Support Journey
What to expect, step by step
Step One
Reach Out
Contact Baṣirah Care through the enquiry form or email.
Tell us briefly what you're navigating.
You don't need to explain everything in the first email.
Step Two
Arrange Your Appointment
We'll work with you to arrange an appropriate appointment.
Depending on the circumstances, counselling may take place individually, jointly where appropriate, or through a combination of counselling and fiqh guidance.
Step Three
Receive Your Welcome Pack
Once your appointment has been confirmed, you'll receive a Baṣirah Care Welcome Pack containing information about the process and what to expect.
Step Four
Complete the Relevant Preparation
Depending on the circumstances, you may receive an intake form or questionnaire to provide basic background information before the first session.
Step Five
Your First Session
The first session is about understanding the situation.
We listen to your story in your own words.
In that first session we seek to understand:
The purpose is not to rush you into a decision. It is to help you understand where you are and what the appropriate next step may be.
Before Divorce
Sometimes the most important time to seek help is before the divorce happens.
If divorce is being considered but has not yet taken place, counselling may help determine whether the marriage can still be repaired.
Where reconciliation remains realistically possible, we can work towards understanding the problems within the marriage and identifying what would need to change.
Where appropriate, we can also advise regarding the Qur'anic framework of arbitration and help facilitate the appropriate process.
But if the marriage has genuinely reached its end, the objective changes. The question becomes:
How do we end this marriage responsibly and move forward without unnecessary harm?
Guidance Through the Process
Counselling and relevant fiqh guidance, together
Because Baṣirah Care is headed by a qualified Mufti, guidance may include:
Where a matter requires additional scholarly input, appropriate referral or consultation can be facilitated. Specific rulings depend on the circumstances of each case and should not be reduced to generic online advice.
Moving Forward
Divorce does not mean that life has ended.
It means that one chapter has ended.
There is still work to do.
There may be grief to process.
There may be anger to understand.
There may be children to protect from unnecessary conflict.
There may be financial and practical responsibilities to navigate.
There may be a new identity to build.
There may be a relationship with Allah that needs strengthening through a painful season.
Our counselling seeks to help you make sense of what happened, learn from it, avoid carrying unresolved pain into the next chapter, and move forward with dignity.
We don't make your decisions for you. We help you see more clearly so that you can make informed decisions.
When Children Are Involved
The focus is not only on husband and wife.
Parents must also consider what their children need during and after the separation. Counselling may address:
The objective is to reduce unnecessary harm and help parents continue fulfilling their responsibilities with iḥsān.
